Plastic Pants Cloth Diapers Older Kids
Been giving a lot of thought to the whole Covid-19 situation, and how so many shelves in isles at grocery stores are bare, even entirely empty. Toilet paper, paper towels, even diapers.. Yes,back in the 50s to the late 70s,cloth diapers and plastic babypants rubberpants were used on older kids and teenagers for bedwetting.I was quite common back then to see diapers and rubberpants drying on clothes lines where bedwetters lived.I knew kids,mostly girls,who wore the cloth diapers and rubberpants for their bedwetting up untill they were 17 and 18.Many bedwetting girls wore rubberpants with cute prints on them,where as the boys wore mainly plain white rubberpants. Diapers,'And Plastic Pants'. 'PEOPLE WHO LOVE BEING A BABY; 'AND WEARING DIAPERS,'AND PLASTIC PANTS LIKE A BABY'! My favorite part was watching them have their wet diapers changed by the school staff during the day. But, I was hooked on diapers way before those days at my brother’s school, so being around all those big kids in diapers was my favorite place to be. I’m 52 now, and I’ve always worn, and preferred cloth diapers and plastic pants.
gone, entirely sold out most days, and when stores do restock the shelves with these paper products, nothing lasts more than a few hours before shelves are empty again.When my kids were little I used cloth diapers, and no, not today's fancy-schmancy, newfangled Velcro closing cloth diapers, ugh-uh.. I'm talking good old-fashioned cloth diapers, the kind that needed to be folded, fastened with pins, and topped with rubber pants. Not only did I survive as a mom, my children survived, and aside from the exponential savings I enjoyed, how nice it was not to be inconvenienced with having to run to the store to buy Pampers or Huggies, and with cloth, not once did I ever run out of fresh clean diapers.
Wet and dirty diapers were kept in a plastic diaper pail until laundry day, then when laundry day arrived (every 2-3 days for diapers), diaper pail was emptied into the washing machine, a wash-cycle was started, bleach and detergent was added, and when the washing machine finished doing it's thing, into a laundry basket all was transferred, and with trusty laundry basket in tow, out the back porch door I'd go to hang all on the clothesline to dry.
On a typical sunshiny, summer day, diapers were dry in an hour, so back outside with my trusty ole laundry basket in-hand I'd go, clothespins were released, the washing pulled down, then back into the house I'd go. Diapers were folded according to requirement and use.. single-fold diapers for daytime, double-fold diapers for naptime, nighttime, and outings, and/or, for the older ones wearing diapers (older baby/toddler stage). Freshly folded diapers were then walked down to the baby room, diapers stacked on top of the dresser, and the process of changing and washing began it's perpetual cycle again.
Rubber pants off, unlatch and pluck pins from diaper, diaper into pail, refasten fresh clean diaper using pins (one pin on each side of the diaper), rubber pants back on. Having grown up helping my mom with the care of baby siblings, I changed lots of diapers, and as to be expected for the day, my mom used cloth diapers and rubber pants. Same when I started babysitting for neighbourhood moms.. old-fashioned cloth diapers, diaper pins, and rubber pants, and all for .25¢ an hour!

- Remember running the diaper pins through your hair to help lubricate them before pinning a diaper?
- Hands-up if you remember the plastic-rustling sound the rubber pants made when changing a diaper?
- Remember dunking poopy diapers up and down in the toilet to rinse them before putting them in the diaper pail?
When you say “those closest to me,” who do you mean? Other than your romantic partner or spouse, I’m not certain that anyone else needs to know about your wearing diapers. People don’t normally openly reveal these types of interests. It would seem odd to discuss it with roommates, friends and family, etc. It doesn’t seem like it’s anyone else’s business.
This would be an easier question to answer if I knew more about who you are thinking about telling and why. I don’t see why anyone needs to know unless you are planning to wear diapers in their presence, and I would wonder why you would find it pleasurable to do so. But be sure it’s necessary to reveal your secret before you do so. Otherwise, you risk making people feel uncomfortable.
There’s not necessarily a protocol for revealing this type of information. Honesty would be best but be prepared for them not to fully understand. You might consider not telling them if you think it will cause problems.
